Don't hold your breath waiting for that Florida program that promised early payment of that $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers. The program was supposed to take effect July 1 but the program has no money and no rules. Rather than let first timers wait for their 2009 tax return, Florida legislators passed a law to advance the $8,000 tax credit in an interest free loan. But the program is not ready and there's no word on when it will be. Stay tuned.
Interest rates continue to fluctuate and time is running out! Rates on 30 year fixed rate mortgages were up nearly a full point and then back down in the past couple of weeks. Some experts think they will continue to inch higher! The higher the rate, the less home you can buy. And, if you are planning to take advantage of the tax gift of up to $8,000, time is running short. The deadline for buying a home to get the tax refund is Dec. 1. And allowing 4-8 weeks for closing, that means you have about 3-4 months to buy a house. Call me today for more information!

Mortgage rates are dropping! Average rates for a 30-year, fixd-rate mortgage are flirting with all time lows. Freddie Mac says rates last week averaged 4.78. Rates are now down a full point from this time last year. If you've been waiting for rates to do down, here they are!
